The dress code remains cruise casual in the specialty restaurants and main dining rooms except for Tsar’s Palace and Le Bistro. Men can wear jeans, khakis, slacks, collared shirts, and closed-toe shoes (no tank tops). They’ve added a large vanity mirror with in-built lighting, as well as a smaller makeup mirror and hair dryer—this set up compensates for the lack of counter space in the bathroom.

Combination shampoo/conditioner and body wash dispensers are available in all cabins, as is bar soap. Those staying in balcony cabins and above receive robes and slippers for use during their cruise. Passengers in minisuite cabins and above will find individual bottles of Elemis shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Before you experience “Freestyle Cruising” with Norwegian check out this photo gallery which features many of their ships, specialty dining options and innovative staterooms.
Norwegian Jewel Bars and Lounges
The color palette of the staterooms are now soft grays, white, and pops of aquatic blues. The extra bed is either a sofa bed or a Pullman bed, a bunk that folds down from the wall. The Haven features its own, small indoor pool and one hot tub, that you’ll get access to if you book a stay in a Haven suite.
Cruise Ship Details
The ship draws a broad range of age groups, especially during summer and winter/spring breaks when children and teens are out of school. Our favorite spot to grab breakfast and lunch on the go was the large O'Sheehan's Bar & Grill. Spacious and bright, thanks to windows on both sides, it dishes up guilty pleasure pub grub like fish 'n' chips and chicken pot pies. A pleasant side effect of O'Sheehan's, open 24/7, is that it takes pressure off the main dining rooms, making the waits for dinner, which in the past could be up to an hour, much shorter.
She is the lead vessel of NCL's Jewel-class cruise ships and entered service in 2005. Balcony, Oceanview and Inside cabins have 2 lower beds (convertible), bathroom (shower). Most categories Oceanviews are with 1 Picture Window, except categories OF and OG (with Porthole Windows). Categories OK and OX are with fully or partially obstructed views (due to lifeboats).
Otherwise, you’ll have to stick to the main pool area on Deck 12. Norwegian Jewel boasts an average capacity of 2,394 passengers, and carries an additional crew of 1,072 members. Passengers are spread out across nearly 1,200 cabins, with nearly half of those cabins offering balconies. If you’re on an average cruise, you should be able to try a little bit of everything, without feeling like you missed out on anything in particular. Other ships in the Jewel class include Norwegian Gem, Norwegian Jade and Norwegian Pearl.
Jewel Club Casino is on Deck 7 forward and features slot machines and a variety of table games that include poker, roulette and craps. Depending on the itinerary, the casino might run slot and poker tournaments. You don't need to have children traveling with you to enjoy some fun and games. Norwegian Jewel features a video arcade, which is fun for the young and the young at heart. Play some pinball, fly a fighter jet, race cars, and more. If you're hoping to work off a few of the pounds you might've gained from all the excellent food on Norwegian Jewel, you're in luck.
O'Sheehan's Bar & Grill is the spot for a pint and even some classic Irish pub eats. Sugarcane Mojito Bar is the spot for freshly muddled mojitos, while martini fans shouldn't miss Shakers Martini & Cocktail Bar. Norwegian’s philosophy of “freestyle cruising,” giving passengers flexibility and choice, is evident in the relaxed dress code. Passengers can dress “cruise casual” in the form of casual dresses, skirts, capris, pants, jeans, shorts, and tops.
In 2008, NCL decided to transfer Pride of Hawaii to their fleet, leaving Pride of America as the sole vessel sailing the intra-Hawaii market. After receiving her current NCL livery, Pride of Hawaii was rechristened as Norwegian Jade and sailed for NCL in 2008.
